"I also suggest women’s specific gear (designed to fit a woman’s build)"

That works if your a smaller size, I've been looking for larger (2x - 22 size) sized gear for woman and not having much luck. If I look at the size charts they are really not true to size and I am finding if very frustrating.

Saustin,
Wow, I have just read your story and I was like reading something I had written, as everything you have said is me spot on!

Even down to my partner just purchasing a 600! And them not understanding me!!

Have you done anything to overcome it yet??? My partner just went out on the bike and I'm sitting at home as I just don't have the confidence!

I'm very new to riding a motorcycle. I have a Yamaha XT250Z. I would like to know how to best come to a stop. Do I down shift, as I'm braking, engaging each gear as I go down in speed, or do I disengage the clutch, bypass (jump down) all the gears, use the bakes, and then when stopped engage the clutch in 1st gear?

OMG Tracy! I have the EXACT same issue! I used to ride briefly 25 yrs ago so took a refresher course on a 250cc bike. No issues! I made the curves with no problem, leaning in, etc. My husband bought me a Harley Street Glide and had it lowered and put a reach seat on so that sitting on it would not be an issue. I can start, go straight, shift with no problem but when I go to turn or take a curve I wind up going wide and into the grass or up on a curb..etc. Altho it hasnt caused me to wreck I am HORRIFIED! The more I try to get used to taking the curve the more anxiety i feel and I forget all i have learned about making the turn. I try to explain to my husband its the SIZE of the bike. I cant return it so any advice someone can give me would be great! I feel for you Tracy. HELP!!!!!!!!!

I bought a HD Heritage Softail, took the class on a 500cc but im terrified to ride mine. It is big and my main fear is going on a curve. I had no problem turning with the smaller bike. I'm not going to sell mine and but a smaller bike, I just need to know how I can get over this one fear...there aren't many completely straight roads ;)

WOO WHOOO .. I was clueless .. but I completed the BRC - Endorsed To Ride and 100 times more confident about it. The odds of killing myself have now been greatly diminished. At least, until I purchase the WMD (Weapon of My Disfigurement) .. lol .. na, it's gonna be all good!! : P

THANKS DAVID!!!

"I need it to ride safely and, if you don't like it: tough" sounds very much like an argument that is defeated by "then you shouldn't be driving it".

Are motorcycles not required by law to have HORNS?

A good air wouldn't do the same thing? (and be kind of cool)

Good point. I had the same issue, I had a bike that needed some minor modifications before it felt comfortable. I took it to my trusted mechanic and we took the time to fit it to my shorter stature. It took a few different things, but now it feels like MY bike, not someone else's. It's a joy to ride it, not the effort it used to be.

Good luck with all our suggestions. I wish you well.
